SXSW Film: What We Do in the Shadows
Along with Jemaine Clement, who was known for the SXSW 2006 favorite Flight of the Conchords, Waititi co-created the film version of What We Do in the Shadows, which screened at SXSW in 2015. The movie was eventually developed into an FX television series of the same name, which premiered at SXSW 2019 and went on to earn multiple Emmy Award nominations. Waititi went on to win the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar in 2020 for his film Jojo Rabbit, which was also nominated for Best Picture.
