SXSW Conversation: Game of Thrones – Benioff & Weiss with Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams
This panel featuring showrunners and stars from HBO’s wildly popular Game of Thrones was convened ahead of the Season 5 premiere and marked another in the show’s multi-year presence at SXSW, which included the releaase of the Game of Thrones beer at SXSW 2014. As well as this session, 2017 also featured an immersive Game of Thrones escape room activation that challenged attendees with puzzles based on the show.
David Benioff

David Benioff works as an author and screenwriter. He adapted his first novel, The 25th Hour, into a feature film directed by Spike Lee. He co-created and executive produces the Emmy Award-winning Game of Thrones for HBO.
Sophie Turner
Actor, Game Of Thrones.
Having trained from a very early age at the Playbox Theatre Company, Sophie’s breakthrough role was as ‘Sansa Stark’, the eldest daughter of House Stark in the hugely successful Golden Globe, SAG and EMMY award winning series GAME OF THRONES.
D.B. Weiss
Creator/Executive Producer, Game Of Thrones.
D.B. Weiss is the author of Lucky Wander Boy. He co-created and executive produces the Emmy Award-winning Game of Thrones for HBO. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons. Weiss has won four Emmy awards for Game of Thrones.
Maisie Williams
Actor, Game Of Thrones.
Maisie Williams is best known for her role as Arya Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, which is currently filming it’s seventh season. The role earned her two Portal awards in 2012 for best supporting actress and best young actor in television - the youngest actor to achieve this – and were followed in 2013, by the Radio 1 Teen Award for Best British Actor and an Emmy nomination in 2016.
