Featured Session: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the New Left
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (known widely by her initials: AOC) became a national figure after her election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018 from a district centered in New York City’s Bronx borough. Though she was already well-known to the attendees who came to hear her views on politics and social issues, she was also featured in a SXSW Film Festival documentary called Knock Down the House, which showed her initial campaign when she was still an unknown candidate.
